Steven announced on Janaury 27, 2012, that he has placed his cycling career on hold to recover from Colitis. He says his body will decide if he returns to the sport he loves so much, professional cycling. Steven raced the way he lives his life, with “passion”. We’ll miss seeing his aggressive “Never Give Up!” style of competing. Bravo to you! Steven

"I'm an aggressive, enthussiastic rider who is prepared to give everything for success."

As a top competitive cyclist, I see my career growing year after year. I feel it is very important for me to be on a progressive team striving to be the best year after year at the elite level of the cycling profession. Racing in Europe is very important to me and I want to continue to be competitive over there throughout my career. I also believe it is good for me to race in the United States so I have a balance of both and can stay connected to my roots.

I am a strong supporter of clean racing and will always race as a clean cyclist. I love the sport too much to dishonor it by cheating as others have done. Winning means a lot to me, but not at the expense of the sport I love or of my own integrity as a person and a cyclist.

I spent my younger years beginning at age 16 racing in Europe, competing against some of the best junior and professional cyclists in the world. I’ve competed with an Italian Junior Team and also the USA National Team in Belgium. So I’ve experienced the best and the toughest times as a young cyclist. I could not be happier at this point in my life doing what I love, competing as a professional cyclist.

I’m now honored to be given the opportunity in 2011 to race for Team NetApp and for my manager and sport directors, Ralph Denk, Jens Heppner, and Enrico Poitschke. I look forward to this 2012 Season. I will be expected to be a leader on the team and I see this opportunity as a positive natural progression in my career development. I know my new teammates will continue to race with passion and determination and remain dedicated towards reaching our goal to become UCI Pro Tour team.

Professional Goals
My career now as an elite cyclist is to continue to improve to help my team win and for myself to succeed in my role on my team. I see myself racing as a road cyclist for many years and hope to continue to contribute to the sport of road race cycling.

My ultimate goal is to continue to race as an elite cyclist in the classics and tours in Europe, Paris Roubaix, Tour De France, Giro Italia, Vuelta a Espana, Tour of Flanders and so on. I also feel fortunate that through my career I can reach out to disadvantaged children. I started a program called Steven Cozza Race for Kids. It’s purpose is to raise money for disadvantaged children throughout the world. Sign up as a Fan Club member on this web site by going to the Race for Kids section and follow the directions. Reach out to disadvantaged youth who need your help.

My strengths are the individual time trial, classics, climbing, and stage racing. I experience much joy racing as a team player working together to achieve our ultimate goal as a team, victory. I always give over 100% effort and I never give up on myself or my teammates.
